speakers = radio

This is a strange one. When I turn the volume of my stereo speakers (plugged into soundcard) all the way down I hear a radio station that plays dance music. I can hear it from meters away from the pc. There is no radio even near it.

With me not being a great fan of dance music, does anyone have any idea what's going on as I've never heard of something like this?

I see you haven't had a reply yet so I thought I would add my 2 pennies.. Don't know if these are speakers designed for your PC or a home system, but it sounds like your speaker wires may be acting like an antenna and may possibly be picking up a strong local radio station...

If it's possible, some higher quality speaker wires with better shielding may be worth a shot.

Well Ben...if it's any consolation, when it's really really quiet I hear radio stations and I can be by myself in the middle of the woods. I've tried the aluminum foil under my ball cap but it only seems to intensify the signal!

So, I've heard it too...but I don't know from whence it commeth!

I have a neighbor who uses ham radio and when he is on, he broadcasts from every speaker in my house including my computer. This is regardless of whether the power is on or not. He even broadcasts on my phones. All unintelligle and unpleasant noise, so I would like dance music a lot better.

Fortunately he got a computer and spends most of his time now looking at porn, so I don't have to put up with it much anymore.

I was at first contemplating posting on the 'I hear voices in my head' forum but had the missus confirm that I am not the only person hearing it. Had me worried for a minute.
