    Smile Practice Exams?

Hello gang, as you can probably tell I'm new to this forum. (being formal introduction) My names Robert, I' 21 and studying for A+ Certification. I don't have enough cash for classes OK! .

One quick question, if anyone out there has experienced both the real CompTIA certification test, and any "practice" exam. The reason I am asking is because I've just purchased the "All in One Exam Guide, 4th Edition" - By Michael Myers.... and am wondering how closely do the practice exams mimic the actual exams? So far I am happy w/ my practice test scores at the end of each chapter, but I still only average about 7.5/10.

Any information would help, Thanks in advance. I look forward to chatting w/ you all. 'Night.

    Hi Butter:

Like wise studying for A+ - taking an on-line course at local college though

    Course itself based on Myers

    Recommended reading by Prof:

    A+ for Dummies
    PC Repair & Upgrades Mueller
    A+complete Groth

Both A+ have Cd's with tests etc as dos your Myers -

However - Found Groth (at least so far) lot's more and tougher questions in textbook than other ones including Myers(which is the "Bible" of A+)

I believe CompTIA has some sample tests but that's for later

Just as an aside - If you can lay hands on a junker PC to tear apart and mess around with - that helps a lot

    Good Luck

    Hi Butter,

I'm really in the same boat as you, I made myself unemployed to study for the APlus exams (Finding it really hard to juggle studying and working as a chef at the same time), I've recently passed the Core Hardware exam (Kicked out after 20 questions), the book that really helped me was "PC Hardware, The Complete Reference" by Craig Zacker and John Rourke through Osborne books, I found that this helped the most, as well as pouring over the PCGuide forums and online texts, A+ Cert. for Dummies, Exam Cram, Exam Prep (Both through Coriolis) and the All-In-One A+ cert by Mike Meyers.

As for practice exams, when you feel your ready to teake the tests, run a search through Google, Yahoo, Excite, Altavista AND Ask Jeeves, and take as many mock tests as you can, this will not only give you a wider scope of questions, but will also point out your weaknesses.

At the end of the day, after all the web searches that I ran, mock tests from all the above books as well as the end of chapter tests, I've yet to find a site or test that is exactly like the real exam.
My advice to you is, take non-adaptive axams and work out your average score, and set your sights as high as you possibly can.

Oh, and don't be affraid to fail, I failed the first exam I took.

But at over 100 a go, be ready for it.
