This is a really solid laptop if you need something that can provide great performance anywhere. The lightweight 1.265 gram design means it’s incredibly portable with a tough but lightweight Aluminium chassis. We’re also fans of the 19-hour battery life that allows you to work unencumbered all day. The Ryzen 5 4680U processor is powerful enough for most office tasks and able to balance several applications at once. The lack of discrete graphics does somewhat let this Surface 4 down as it’s not great for graphically intensive tasks like rendering 3D models or 4K footage. Overall though this is a capable laptop for the majority of users with a sleek, lightweight design and detailed display.
Is this a good time to buy the Microsoft Surface 4?
There’s nothing more annoying than thinking you’ve got something for a steal and realising you could have got it cheaper the month before. That’s why we take a look at price comparison sites like Camelcamelcamel.com to see if right now is a good time to buy.

As of the last scan on Camelcamelcamel the lowest price the Surface 4 has been available for was $619.00 on January 1st, unfortunately, the price has since risen to $699.99, and as it’s perhaps not the best time to buy the Surface 4, especially considering the age of the laptop will likely mean that the price falls further. However, if you need a solid laptop for right now we still think this is a great price for this kind of laptop.
