SharePlay not working on iOS 15 isn’t the best revelation to receive on a Monday but sadly, iOS 15 seems to have fallen short of consumer expectations. A brilliant idea for staying social with family, friends, and others over the web, SharePlay not working on iOS 15 means screen sharing and the like isn’t available at launch.
Due to Apple delaying the rollout of the added FaceTime functionality, this issue simple cannot be fixed as the feature isn’t baked into the app to start with.
That’s right. Beta testers and developers for iOS 15 had access to SharePlay up until the last beta release, allowing for FaceTime chats to watch a film or TV series together whilst having a good chat. Removing SharePlay for the iOS 15 full release without a solid reason has added fuel to the fire.
Although Apple did remove SharePlay from the most recent beta and warned developers that SharePlay will not release alongside the iOS 15 launch, users still aren’t happy with the delay. Here’s the official word from Apple about this and a release date confirmed for fall 2021.
Apple is staying quiet on SharePlay not working on iOS 15, bar blanket statements such as the one below regarding the issue. What we need to remember is that SharePlay not working on iOS 15 was warned by apple before release and that there’s obviously a good reason why SharePlay has been delayed. Most likely one too many glitches to rollout or potential security issues:
“We’re thrilled with the high level of enthusiasm we’ve seen from the developer community for SharePlay, and we can’t wait to bring it to users so that they can experience your apps with their friends and family in a whole new way.”
