When will the Black Friday SSD deals start in 2025?
Black Friday is taking place this year on November 28th, however early offers went live as soon as the second week of the month. If you see a deal you like the look of, it’s generally a good idea to buy it as soon as possible, rather than waiting until the day itself, as stocks may run out.
How to get the best Black Friday SSD deals in 2025
You can get the best Black Friday SSD deals this year by being up-to-date on the pricing history of a storage drive that you’ve had your eye on. By looking around at Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, and UK retailers, you can contrast what’s available. The pricing histories of storage drives are constantly in flux, and can stay one step ahead by keeping the rates into account.
This can be done by installing browser extensions such as Honey and CamelCamelCamel. The former is used for all manner of retailers, and the latter is exclusively for Amazon. Camelizer gets you a historic lowest-ever price, with Honey pulling back by 120 days in the past. Prices change a lot in November, so you can buy with confidence knowing you’re getting the best deal on the day.
Things to consider when buying an SSD Black Friday deal
Type of SSD
Solid state drives come in two mainstream formats, these are your traditional SATA models and NVMe form factors. The former is generally cheaper in higher capacities with the latter being faster and plugging straight into your motherboard’s M.2 port. Check to see if your mobo is a 3×4 or 4×4, as there’s a substantial speed difference here to maximize. Gen 4.0 are usually pricier.
What’s faster, a SATA or NVMe SSD?
NVMe drives are much faster than their SATA equals because they screw straight into your motherboard. Gen 3.0 models top out at 3,500 MB/s sequential, and Gen 4.0 are able to push upwards of 7,000 MB/s depending on the choice of controller and DRAM. Gen 3.0 drives are backward compatible with 4×4 M.2 ports, however, you won’t get the same speeds out of Gen 4 drives in 3×4.
Are Samsung SSDs on offer this Black Friday?
While deals are not yet confirmed, it’s almost guaranteed that Samsung SSDs will be on sale this year. Last year, we saw a ton of SSDs from Samsung slashed over Cyber Week, with the same expected for this time around. Everything from Samsung’s high-end 990 PRO series through to their 870 EVO should be up for grabs during this year’s biggest sales event – and we’ll be covering them all on this page.
