SSDs can get expensive the higher up you go, and Black Friday is one of the best times of the year to grab an SSD for less; this time around, we’re expecting to see some of the best SSDs for gaming and best NVMe SSDs enter the sales, and that includes the latest PCIe 5.0 SSDs too.

That said, Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, and Micro Center have kicked off their Black Friday sales, and to our surprise, we’re seeing pretty good discounts on Gen 5 SSDs. This means it is the perfect time to boost your system’s performance and efficiency. On Amazon, we found this Crucial New 2024 T705 4TB PCIe Gen5 with 40% off on its original price, dropping it down to $459.99. However, on the Crucial website, the same SSD is available for $449.99 and includes a heatsink, so it is much better to get it from the website.

SanDisk is also participating in the Black Friday sales, and if you’re looking for a beefy SSD, we found this 8TB WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD on its website. Its price has been cut from $899.99 to $579.99. Besides that, we spotted some great Samsung SSDs on Best Buy and Newegg. The Samsung 990 PRO 2TB is on sale at Best Buy for $169.99, and the SAMSUNG 990 EVO SSD 1TB has its price slashed by $80, bringing it down to $69.99.

However, that’s not all. Micro Center also has excellent SSDs on sale this season, and this Crucial T700 4TB TLC NAND Flash PCIe Gen 5 SSD caught our eye as you’re saving $313 dollars on it as it is available for $341.99 and comes with a heatsink.

So, there is something for everyone and you can get massive discounts on Gen 5 SSDs if that is something you’re looking for. If you’ve got a PS5 and want to upgrade it, we’d recommend checking out the best SSDs for PS5, as we’re confident they will also feature in this year’s sales.

On this page, we’ve collected what we think are the best deals so far and shared our tips and tricks for getting the most out of the Black Friday sales.

Where to find the best Black Friday SSD deals in 2025

SSDs are available at all good tech retailers, with some of the deepest Black Friday SSD deals typically being offered by Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy just to name a few. Below, we’ve rounded up what you can expect to find currently and on the day when November rolls around.

When will the Black Friday SSD deals start in 2025?

Black Friday is taking place this year on November 29th. We generally see the offers coming in earlier than this, though, as the Black Friday SSD deals could be upon us far earlier in November as more retailers battle it out. You’ll want to keep this information in mind when debating pulling the trigger early, but more on that later.

How to get the best Black Friday SSD deals in 2025

You can get the best Black Friday SSD deals this year by being up-to-date on the pricing history of a storage drive that you’ve had your eye on. By looking around at Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, and UK retailers, you can contrast what’s available. The pricing histories of storage drives are constantly in flux, and can stay one step ahead by keeping the rates into account.

This can be done by installing browser extensions such as Honey and CamelCamelCamel. The former is used for all manner of retailers, and the latter is exclusively for Amazon. Camelizer gets you a historic lowest-ever price, with Honey pulling back by 120 days in the past. Prices change a lot in November, so you can buy with confidence knowing you’re getting the best deal on the day.

Things to consider when buying an SSD on Black Friday

Type of SSD

Solid state drives come in two mainstream formats, these are your traditional SATA models and NVMe form factors. The former is generally cheaper in higher capacities with the latter being faster and plugging straight into your motherboard’s M.2 port. Check to see if your mobo is a 3×4 or 4×4, as there’s a substantial speed difference here to maximize. Gen 4.0 are usually pricier.

What’s faster, a SATA or NVMe SSD?

NVMe drives are much faster than their SATA equals because they screw straight into your motherboard. Gen 3.0 models top out at 3,500 MB/s sequential, and Gen 4.0 are able to push upwards of 7,000 MB/s depending on the choice of controller and DRAM. Gen 3.0 drives are backward compatible with 4×4 M.2 ports, however, you won’t get the same speeds out of Gen 4 drives in 3×4.
