Following the relatively successful release of Apple’s iOS 17.4 update, a follow-up will seemingly be arriving soon. But don’t hold your breath; unlike its predecessor, the alleged 17.4.1 iPhone patch will only focus on typical bug fixes and performance improvements. However, with several users reportedly experiencing several software-related bugs with 17.4, this ‘minor’ update may be a much-needed stop-gap for many within the Apple ecosystem.

News of iOS 17.4.1’s impending arrival comes courtesy of a Macrumors article stating that they found “evidence of the software update in [their] website’s logs this week.” Unfortunately, neither Apple nor Macrumors have yet to reveal its release date. However, the rumor also said, “It will likely be available this week or next week,” so you won’t have to wait long if you’ve been experiencing a few iOS 17.4-specific issues.

iOS 17.4.1 update will allegedly focus on bug fixes

Over on Reddit, disgruntled fans continue to bombard the iOS subreddit with reports of issues they’ve encountered after installing the latest software update. One particularly frustrated user even created a thread about receiving only 20% of their text notifications since 17.4. A couple of commenters shared their own experiences, with one notably experiencing it on the Apple Watch as well. Conversely, others have reported crashing problems, screen freezing while typing, and photos completely disappearing.

Fortunately, it isn’t all bad news for Apple loyalists, as some users are enjoying the new features and improvements introduced with 17.4. One such upgrade is the iPhone’s enhanced UI and overall responsiveness, prompting some Redditors to praise the developers for their efforts, but only after questioning why it took this long to improve its performance. Another is, of course, the useful new gadgets included, like the Podcast transcription tool, which makes listening to those lengthy sessions much easier. Hopefully, the iOS 17.4.1 update can address all of the ongoing issues, so the celebrations won’t only be limited to a lucky few.
