With its potential launch moving from months away to just weeks, we’re unpacking our current speculations on the Galaxy S24 display. Samsung’s yearly iteration of its flagship Galaxy series is always highly anticipated, and next year’s Galaxy S24 lineup is certainly no exception. With an anticipated release sometime throughout January 2024, rumors are already spreading about the wealth of exciting features the S24 will bring to the table.

As usual, one of the features most frequently discussed about the S24 is its display. So, how big will the screen of the Galaxy S24 be? Will it be larger than that of its predecessor, the Galaxy S23? These are a few of the things we’ll be taking a look at, and all you have to do is stick around till the end to find out.

How big is the screen on the Galaxy S24?

Like most high-end smartphones on the market, the Galaxy S24 and its variants are likely to boast a large and vibrant AMOLED display that provides an immersive viewing experience. On paper, it so far looks like the display specs for the S24 are pretty much identical aside from a minute increase in screen size. Leaks by notable tipster Ice Universe on X (formerly Twitter) posted a photo showing a potential comparison between the three Galaxy S24 models, the S24, S24+, and the S24 Ultra. This rumor suggests that the base model will feature a 6.2-inch Dynamic FHD display, with the S24+ coming in with a crisper WQHD display that’s 6.7 inches. Perhaps the most notable thing here is that the Plus model might upgrade from 1080p FHD+ resolution up to 1440p WQHD.

A leak by Evan Blass in mid-December sourced on Android Authority supports that these could possibly be the display sizes of the S24, shown on what appears to be an official Samsung specs sheet. This rumor reveals not only that we could be seeing an impressive 2,600 nits of peak brightness across the Galaxy S24 lineup, but that the S24 Ultra variant’s display will be encased in a titanium frame.

In terms of how this compares to the previous generation of Galaxy, the S23 came in at 6.1 inches, the S23+ at 6.6 inches, and 6.8 inches for the premium S23 Ultra. So overall, the size will continue to increase across the smartphone lineup, but it’s rumored so far that all models except the biggest Galaxy S will see an increased screen size. It doesn’t seem like it will be too much longer until we find out, now that Samsung has given us an official Galaxy Unpacked 2024 date of the 17th of January, where the device is rumored to be launching.

What size is the screen of the Galaxy S24 Ultra?

The premium Galaxy model, the S24 Ultra, is speculated in the leak by Ice Universe to maintain its 6.8-inch WQHD display. Given that one of the standout attributes of the S23 Ultra was its display features, it’s expected that the S24 will carry on this legacy. Boasting a 6.8” Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display of 3088 x 1440, and a peak brightness of 1750 nits, the S23 Ultra held its own when up against strong competition such as Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro and the Google Pixel 8. So, while it seems like the screen size will stay the same, the S24 Ultra will still hold a few upgrades over its predecessor.

Leaker Ice Universe has once again weighed in here, posting that the S24 Ultra will offer “the thinnest bezel and the thickest middle frame” on the smartphone market. According to their information, the bezel (borders surrounding the display), will be 1.52mm thick, while the middle frame might come in at 1.85mm, bringing the total to 3.37mm. These rumors play into what we’ve been hearing about the Ultra model getting a flat screen, going against Samsung’s usual curved edges.

What are the display specs of the Galaxy S24?

Ultimately, we don’t have any confirmed information from Samsung concerning the display specs of its next-gen Galaxy series, but leaks so far from Ice Universe suggest that we could be looking at a 6.2-inch AMOLED screen. If it’s on par with its predecessor, we’ll also potentially be getting at least a 2340 x 1080 display resolution and 120 Hz out of this base model. While we await official information from its creator, we’ve been further looking into Galaxy S24 rumors, such as if it will have a Snapdragon chip or convert to a home-grown Exynos processor.

Samsung Galaxy S24 screen vs Galaxy S24 Ultra screen

The display is one of the most important aspects of any device, as it determines the overall user experience. Naturally, the S24 Ultra’s screen will have more advanced specs, as Samsung’s premium flagship smartphone. As well as being rumored to sport a larger 6.8-inch screen compared to the possible 6.2 inches of the base Galaxy S24, it’s expected to have higher display specs such as overall resolution and peak brightness, possibly extending to refresh rate and other display-based features such as better camera pixels.
