It’s not new news that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is gearing up for a design refresh, and a recent insightful leak has shed some more light on what Samsung might have in store for its next foldable.

While it wouldn’t be too surprising to see a bigger screen and slimmer profile, what’s interesting is that the Z Fold 6 could be getting one of the features that gives the iPhone 15 Pro and Galaxy S24 Ultra their truly premium feel.

The latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 leak, courtesy of @chunvn8888 on X (formerly Twitter), suggests that the Z Fold 6 will have a “Titanium build” – clearly referring to the titanium frame that was one of the star selling points of the S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15. Since it has a much better strength-to-weight ratio than aluminium, the use of titanium might be contributing to the Z Fold 6 apparently becoming “much thinner and lighter”, at just 11mm when folded: for context, the Z Fold 5 comes in at 13.4mm.

Overall, the use of titanium framing should positively impact the in-hand feel of the device, putting it on a level playing field with the high-end S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro.

An even more S24 Ultra-esque look

With that in mind, it seems that Samsung has taken the success of the Galaxy S24 Ultra to heart, with the Z Fold 6 rumored to take more design cues from the premium S24 than just a titanium frame. According to @chunvn8888, the Z Fold 6 will get “more of S24 style sharp edges”, as well as getting a “little wider”, becoming ever more reminiscent of its S24 relative.

In terms of internal changes, it seems the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is on the cards too. However, despite the chipset win, the alleged lack of the S Pen stylus might be disappointing to some. This is because not only is the S Pen compartment a cherished feature of the S24 Ultra, but previous leaks were suggesting that a stylus slot would finally be built into the Z Fold 6 after being absent from all its previous models.

So, depending on how it all pans out, it seems that Samsung could be disregarding the calls for a cheaper Galaxy Fold model and instead focus on following in the footsteps of the market’s current most premium models – the iPhone 15 and its own S24 Ultra. The build quality and features of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 shouldn’t be in contention for too long, given that we might be expecting the announcement around July or August. Until then, we’ll be keeping a close eye on any further leaks or rumors.
