How to search in Threads: Introduction

Meta has the run of the social media world, with control of some major apps, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. And it has done it yet again with Instagram Threads, which has amassed 100m sign-ups since its launch last week. With this Twitter alternative, Meta is aiming to enhance real-time text-based conversations. Though Threads is similar to Twitter, its makers assure that it doesn’t want to replace Twitter like-for-like. It is intended to be a more relaxed and light-hearted platform, with less of the fighting and hate speech which has permeated Elon Musk’s platform.

You can set up your Threads account using your Instagram account login details. Basically, it functions as an extension of your Instagram account, using your Instagram username and password.

Searching in Instagram Threads

Search is the most basic function on every platform. It enables you to find the topic of your interest and gather relevant information. Instagram Threads, too, has this feature. First, you’ll need to make sure you have the Threads app downloaded. You download the app by heading to the Apple App Store, or the Google Play Store on Android devices. You can type a profile name in the field that pops up when you tap the search icon. This feature lets you search for Threads users you want to follow. A private profile will just show the bio, profile picture and account name, whereas a public profile will show the public threads that user has created.

If you prefer keyword searches, you might have to wait longer for this feature to come your way. Currently, you cannot perform keyword searches in Threads as it is yet to be rolled out by Meta. The same is the case with hashtags. But good things come to those who wait, doesn’t it?  These beloved features are in the pipeline and something to look forward to.

Until now, Threads has been breaking every record and ruling over social media. This grand entry from tech giant Meta has already got everyone’s expectations sky-high. And a lot more is coming up to offer a richer communication experience. So, stay tuned to PC Guide for all the key updates.
