The RTX 3080 Ti will run any game at 1440p resolution. In fact, the GPU is capable of running 1440p games at high frames well above 100 frames per second.

Thanks to the 12GB of VRAM (2GB more than the 3080) the pixel density and information needed to be moved can be handled easily and within efficient ranges.

While 1080p gaming used to be the standard for gamers, now that technology has evolved, monitors are capable of bigger resolutions, and components can handle the amount of information that these resolutions have to transfer. And so, 1440p becomes the new standard. Generally, users looking for a neat and sharp experience without expending too much money will hit this sweet spot.

And the truth is that the RTX 3080 Ti is good for 1440p. Keep in mind that this GPU was built with 4K in mind, and although for a lot of people bigger resolutions are the way to go, there are some who prefer higher fps over 4K. With this frame of thinking the 3080 Ti will suit you perfectly if you want to achieve high frames per second in a 1440p resolution

How many FPS can a 3080 Ti run?

The big question still remains, though. Now that we know that the RTX 3080 ti runs 1440p games perfectly, the next step is to know how well games are going to run.

Compared to an RTX 3090, there’s not too much in it. Looking at the 3080 Ti in 1440p with all settings at ultra, you’d expect the likes of Fortnite at around 170 fps, Assassins Creed Valhalla at 85, and the hugely demanding MS Flight Simulator at around 45 fps.

For the RTX 3090, you’d expect around 200 fps for Fortnite, Valhalla similarly at 85 fps, and MS Flight Simulator again at around 45. The two cards don’t often perform too differently at this level. So, if you’re asking whether the RTX 3080 Ti is better than the RTX 3090, the answer for gaming is “it’s a close fight”.

It’s also worth noting that there is not much difference in games’ performance when we turn on DLSS over when the feature is off. This speaks well about the 3080 Ti’s behavior in 1440p gaming. And, as the RTX 3090 actually isn’t much better, you don’t need to spend more on a 3090 to enjoy this resolution.

PC Guide Expert view

In conclusion, the RTX 3080 Ti is a strong GPU capable of handling most demanding tasks without constraint, and yes, the 3080 Ti is good for 1440p.

However, this GPU can go into 4K territory, so it may be too good for 1440p only. So, if you haven’t bought yet and are still just considering you might be better of with a cheaper GPU like the RTX 3070 or even 3060.
