New hardware models are often celebrated in the tech community for a few reasons. First, they often present an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts to grab high-end parts at MSRP. Another more practical reason is that discounts abound for older generations, like what will inevitably happen with the Core i9-14900KS’s predecessor, the i9-13900KS.

According to a recent Core i9-14900KS leak from VideoCardz, Intel will allegedly release the upcoming CPU on March 14. This means that price cuts for older models may be arriving on the same day, if not earlier, to offset a highly probable decrease in demand. However, since Intel hasn’t confirmed the shiny new processor’s launch as of writing, you will need to have your salt shakers handy, like always.

Core i9-13900KS discounts could coincide with 14900KS March 14 launch

Of course, Intel may also end up standing pat with their older CPU prices, as the tech company has yet to reveal its actual plans for the near future. But based on past trends, a price drop seems inevitable, especially since the 14900KS is gearing up to take most of the community’s attention. After all, only recently did AMD manufacturers treat the RX 7700 XT to a collective price drop following the release of the 7900 GRE.

In addition, the 13900KS’s slight performance boost and $100+ price increase over the vanilla 13900 made it a less-than-ideal ‘upgrade’ for most. Naturally, a much-needed official price drop would help increase its value in consumers’ eyes. That said, you shouldn’t expect anything drastic; the discounts you’ll see will likely range between $30 and $50. Nevertheless, this would still make its price point palatable for most. But with these hypothetical markdowns unlikely to come until the day itself and beyond, you’ll have to remain patient with your ‘Buy Now’ trigger finger and your wallet for now.
