Competition in the foldable phone market is heating up, as Samsung is reportedly working on two Galaxy Z Fold 6 models. Both devices will seemingly be a “low-end product,” making them more affordable than your typical premium smartphone options. One of the rumored upcoming Z Fold phones will also allegedly introduce pen input, while the other, likely a cheaper version, won’t.

This report from South Korean news outlet ETNews doesn’t exactly come as a surprise since Samsung’s reign as the top foldable phone manufacturer is under threat from a typical competitor in Huawei. According to their article, a survey from market research firm DSCC indicated that the Chinese tech corporation is set to surpass Samsung in Q1 2024 “in global foldable smartphone market share.” Other manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Honor, and Oppo, are also steadily nipping at the leaders’ heels, and it may only be a matter of time before they catch up.

Rumored Galaxy Z Fold 6 could help Samsung regain market advantage

Unfortunately, like other Galaxy Z Fold 6 rumors, these details, including its alleged launch, have yet to be confirmed, so you’ll need to take it with your customary helping of salt. That said, if it does come true (and it most likely will), DSCC predicted that its launch could help Samsung regain its advantage over the rest of the foldable phone market. After all, it remains one of the most trusted and world-renowned brands, so enthusiasts would likely swarm all over the company’s latest release.

For now, though, only time will tell whether it can live up to its lofty billing. But if any of Samsung’s previous smartphone releases are anything to go by, fans can likely expect another comprehensive device that’s as sleek as it is useful. While you wait for it to drop, though, check out when the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 release date is so you know when another long-awaited smartphone is set to launch.
