If you have been keeping up with the latest updates in the artificial intelligence space, you may be wondering – What is Microsoft 365 Copilot?
The new AI Copilot from Microsoft incorporates all the best bits of AI technology, using OpenAI’s GPT-4 large language model. Copilot will be introduced into the tech firm’s popular applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and more.
According to the creators, the new suite of Microsoft apps will become the “most powerful productivity tool on the planet”. This is a pretty bold statement, but what will this new platform actually look like?

The 365 Copilot is currently being kept behind closed doors, only to be accessed by a select few Beta testers. Lucky for us, one of these beta testers from Windows Central has released a sneak preview of Microsoft 365 Copilot for Word.
The demo session revealed that most of the new Copilot features were not working, except for the “Start a document” and “Just write about it” options.
Interestingly, Windows Central reported that Copilot generated an “entire document which passed plagiarism tests”. This result is clearly exciting for students but seemingly alarming for any educational institution – it will definitely be interesting to see how Microsoft deals with that!
What are the Microsoft 365 Copilot features?
The new Copilot is an artificial intelligence workflow tool that will be embedded in Microsoft’s suite of apps. It will essentially enable you to automate a bunch of tasks, cleverly using your business’s documents and data.
Here are a few examples of what the new Copilot can do:
- Write, edit, and summarise text in Word
- Create PowerPoints using natural language commands
- Help you find insights, analyze trends and create stunning data visualizations in Excel
- Manage your inbox in Outlook
- Generate real-time summaries and create actionable tasks during Teams meetings
What is the Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing?
So, how much will this new platform cost? Unfortunately, we do not know just yet. Microsoft has released a statement saying the “specifics on pricing and licensing will be shared soon”.
To get an idea let’s look at the current Microsoft 365 pricing plans. For business owners, the service starts at as little as $6.00 per user per month. The premium version (Microsoft 365 Business Premium), which comes with more comprehensive cloud services as well as the entire suite of Office applications, starts at $22.00 per user per month.
Of course, the updated version of Microsoft 365 will cost a lot more. But, by how much? Until Microsoft makes an official statement we can only speculate.
Final Thoughts
Microsoft 365 Copilot is the tech giant’s next-generation AI suite of productivity tools. Powered by OpenAI’s large language models, just like the infamous ChatGPT, these new apps will completely revolutionize the way people work.
With a sneak preview of Microsoft 365 Copilot for Word already released, it seems as though the official launch could be approaching very soon.
There’s no denying it, the new Microsoft 365 looks pretty phenomenal. If you’re interested in using it in your business, we definitely recommend heading over to Microsoft’s Newsroom to see what this new platform can do.
